Information on Shared Use

By integrating the People for Parks program into our existing portfolio of work, the LANLT is building its capacity as a leader in the park and garden equity space and expanding our ability to advocate for Community School Parks by championing shared use policy in Los Angeles. “Shared use” or “joint use” occurs when government entities (or sometimes private, nonprofit organizations) agree to open or broaden access to their property and/or facilities for community use, such as recreational activity. Shared use of school playgrounds is an accessible, intelligent and immediate solution to park scarcity in our city’s densest and most park-poor regions. Visit the links below to learn more about this and the important work that our partners are doing to expand recreation opportunities. And stay tuned for exciting news on how the LANLT-PFP partnership will advance shared use.
